Registered Nurse(RN) - Behavioral Health

Role Summary

The Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive nursing services within an inpatient behavioral health setting, utilizing clinical judgment and established nursing practices to assess patient needs, develop and implement plans of care, administer prescribed treatments and medications, and evaluate patient progress.


The RN will work closely with physicians, behavioral health professionals, nursing colleagues, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to promote patient safety, stabilization, and continuity of care.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform initial and ongoing nursing assessments and collect relevant patient health histories.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and modify individualized nursing plans of care.
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and established nursing protocols.
  • Monitor patients for medication effectiveness, adverse reactions, and changes in clinical condition.
  • Provide direct nursing care and respond appropriately to changes in patient status.
  • Participate in emergency response situations and provide basic life support/CPR when necessary.
  • Perform and support appropriate diagnostic testing and specimen collection.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient health, medication, and clinical documentation.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, procedures, and ongoing healthcare needs.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, clinical professionals, and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Maintain and appropriately utilize medical equipment, supplies, and electronic documentation systems.
  • Promote a safe, respectful, therapeutic, and patient-centered environment.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current Registered Nurse license in Tennessee OR privilege to practice in Tennessee through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • Strong assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Ability to meet the physical and clinical demands associated with an inpatient nursing environment.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous behavioral health, psychiatric, inpatient, or hospital nursing experience.
  • Experience caring for individuals with complex behavioral or mental health needs.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and clinical documentation systems.
  • Strong crisis-response, patient-education, and interpersonal communication skills.
