Role Summary

The Psychiatrist will provide comprehensive psychiatric care within an acute or sub-acute inpatient behavioral health setting. Serving as a clinical leader of the multidisciplinary treatment team, the Psychiatrist will oversee treatment planning, medication management, admissions and discharges, ongoing clinical assessment, and coordination of care.

This role requires a physician who is comfortable working with individuals presenting with complex psychiatric and co-occurring substance use conditions and collaborating closely with other members of the clinical team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the clinical leader of a multidisciplinary treatment team within an acute or sub-acute unit.
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations, clinical reviews, and routine patient rounds.
  • Provide psychiatric medication management and ongoing assessment of treatment effectiveness.
  • Participate in patient admissions, treatment planning, progress reviews, and discharges.
  • Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation and daily progress notes.
  • Review laboratory results, consultations, and other clinical information and address patient-care needs as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with nursing, behavioral health, medical, and other interdisciplinary professionals.
  • Provide clinical supervision to Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners when applicable.
  • Participate in hospital committees and other clinical initiatives as needed.
  • Utilize electronic clinical records and related healthcare technology effectively.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, clinical teams, organizational leadership, and other stakeholders.
  • Required Qualifications
  • MD or DO from an accredited medical program.
  • Completion of a four-year Psychiatry Residency from an accredited program.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
  • Active Tennessee medical license or willingness and ability to obtain Tennessee licensure prior to employment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with individuals with complex psychiatric and/or substance use conditions.
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing psychiatric care in an inpatient behavioral health setting.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Experience providing clinical leadership or supervision to advanced practice providers.
  • Familiarity with electronic clinical record systems.
